New Urbanism Urban Design Associates (UDA) will be the lead design firm in the process to Revive I-75. UDA has worked on projects around the nation and overseas with the simple goal of creating beautiful places for people to live, work and play. Although every community is unique, the design process is the same: an inclusive, public process that engages everyone from the lifelong resident to the traffic engineer to create an environment that has lasting value to all. Inherently, the resulting places share the same core principles that make it successful — walkability, connectivity, and mix of uses, to name a few. In the last ten years or so, there has been a renewed interest in creating such environments. Professionals in the design and development world coined their “new” approach as New Urbanism, which is essentially a renewed approach to creating (and living) urban lifestyles versus the suburban-focused lifestyles our nation has followed since the 1950s. UDA shares the mission of New Urbanism and many more including Smart Design, Sustainability, Transit Oriented Design. Much can be read on these subjects, but the following presents the core principles, benefits and related projects. UDA-Related Projects |
